I think for $15 I got what I paid for in terms of gameplay. I actually like the game a lot. It suffers from a few weird gameplay things, but for the most part I find then ignorable. And apparently the developer is working on it, so whatever. These things bother me less as ling as the thing works overall. The game is a touch dark and I REALLY think it’s funny. You’re sitting there and then something dark happens and the tonal shift is so sudden it’s hilarious. The fact that it’s open world and I can pick out the battles I want to participate in is a bonus too. Grinding is much less tedious since they also have a button to just throw your monster out in attempt to avoid a battle. That was a great choice.I’m not thrilled my case came a little bit damaged, but that stuff can be unavoidable sometimes (I get it). But the dink in my score doesn’t actually come from the damage itself.I recommend this to a lot of people, because it is cheap and fun, but I wouldn’t put it as my favorite thing ever. So four stars it is.Monster Crown takes inspiration from the Gameboy classics- Pokémon and Dragon Warrior Monster. You travel the world with your monsters and fight other monsters, all while leveling up your team and making them stronger. Sounds good right? Well it is, at first. After the first town the game gets very slow and you just kind of wander around aimlessly. Yeah you get story snippets here and there, but none of them are worth while or have you wanting more. Instead of gyms and badges, or even an end goal, you just kind of go around collecting all the monsters, raising your tamer level, and breed new monsters. The breeding seems cool at first- just pick two monsters and boom! you get an egg that hatches what feels like right away. Breeding seems so easy that I was breeding tons of monsters that I didn't know what to do with them anymore. I had boxes loaded with different types, that it felt too easy and went too fast. Lastly, the visuals, music, and combat are all great. I had fun battling it out and seeing new monsters, it just doesn't last. As of today 01/19/2022 it has not had its big update that the creator is promising this year but supposedly it will add a lot and make changes per the request of the players. So I would say give this game a try, but for me its just an average game, neither good or bad.I grew up playing the 1st generation pokemon games on the gameboy. This literally feels like playing that all over again. I'd say this game is great if you want something very similar.I definitely noticed some issues. Monsters randomly pop in and out of the world. Like you'll see one nearby and walk over to fight it, and it just blips away. Also there's some lag/stuttering (or whatever it's called) when moving around. Not a fan of that. I've had a couple glitches too where the game froze and I'd have to re load the game. Just make sure you save often.Overall I'm enjoying it. The creatures are interesting and I like the pixel art. If any of the above things bother you, I'd definitely wait for a sale on the eshop.Very reminiscent of early Pokemon 8-bit games. But rather than basically abduct wild animals, you offer a pact, and they choose to go with you or not. You can also breed the monsters into various new hybrids. Controls clearly labeled onscreen so you know which button to press to attack, offer a pact, escape, use items, etc. And yes, you have different types so your battles are rock, paper, scissor like. If you've played Pokemon, you're basically already familiar with this game. But it's your skill, not ball luck, that determines if you acquire a monster or not.It has a lot of bugs so save often but the concept is amazing. Also the creator is constantly pushing out updates so that's a huge plus. This game is similar to Pokémon and its a fun gameThis game grabbed me from the second I saw the cover art.It seemed to promise some combination of Poke'mon and Dragon Warrior Monsters - quite the cross breed. I haven't followed the game at all, so I wasn't sure what to expect.I learned within the first 30 minutes of gameplay that this game is not done yet. There were many visual bugs - incorrect names, health bar animating down every time you switch monsters, camera doing weird things, enemy monsters switching out twice in a row, etc. These were all things that could be overlooked. But it was the constant crashing that really made the whole thing a chore. After about 1 hour in, the game would begin to crash every 20 - 30 minutes. After looking into the developer, they are still actively developing this game. Large updates are still being released. Don't get me wrong, that's awesome. But it should never have been released on physical media in this state. The point of physical media is to be able to play without any compromises or Internet. As it stands, this release does not accomplish that.I hope in a year or so, I can re-purchase the game with all the updates on cart.I really want to like this game. But…It feels more like I’m beta testing while playing it. Its far from a finished game and needs a lot of polishing. There is a very Good amount of Glitches and the story is all over the place and hard to follow as it is. I hope there will be updates to clean this game up. it has potential to be a very good game. While the game play and unique sprites are wonderful the physical copy has several visual glitches that did at times impede my progress. I'm hoping the developer puts out some.patches for those. Otherwise fantastic game and really mature and interesting story. Loved tye game and looking forward to future releases from this developer!Has a handful of issues but nothing you cant look past. For the price this is a super charming game and I've been really enjoying itI really tried to like this game. Concept is great. It looks like an old school pokemon game. The game crash constantly thought. Crashed around 5 times in like 2 hours of gameplay. Im putting this game down for now.An excellent and innovative monster hunter experience. Seems like endless variation of breedable monsters. However it is a little glitchy and needs some polish but this didn't take away from the gameplay experience.
