Honestly I actually started the return process for this device because I ran into so many issues using it on an older laptop. Granted my old laptop from 2016 had a usb 3.0 port on it. But I was getting everything from overheating (a capture card over heated is absurd) to random freezes and black screens in OBS. And honestly there was no fixes online, except for recommendations to upgrade the usb hub within the computer itself. Which is definitely not a option on a laptop.Which that being said I actually bought a new thunderbolt 4 PC for unrelated work purposes and the card now runs flawlessly. So the above issues were definitely a bandwidth issues. Actually have the ripsaw connected to a powered usb 3 hub and have no issues using it on my new PC.Outside of the technical difficulties I experienced this capture card is amazing at doing its job when it works. Probably the best picture quality I’ve found and have zero hdcp software. If talking over YouTube and Netflix are in your plans. This is definitely the card to get.I've tried out AverMedia and Elgato capture cards, both of which left something to be desired. Specifically, consistency. If I don't unplug or change the settings in any way, I expect the capture or stream to be mostly the same as the last time I used it. This is the only capture card I've tried that does that.It is the only truly plug and play capture card, it's much easier to set up than the others I tried. The only thing I can complain about is that the pass-through doesn't work at all, I tried every combination imaginable and it never passed the picture through. Which is a bit of a bummer but I can still watch the video via OBS with no lag. And as I don't play games with split-second timing requirements, it doesn't bother me that much.I don't use a camera so I can't speak on that at all.In short, finally a mostly easy, reliable capture card!It works well with a computer that has the appropriate power, processing chip, graphics card etc. It took us a day to get it to actually work. My kid went to sleep very disappointed and then the next day it was magically working. We ended up using a higher definition hdmi cord but now that it's working my kid is happy. No lag in the videos. Using OBS for streaming and recording.I was excited to try this capture card as I was needing to replace my Blackmagic Ultrastudio Extreme, as my MacBook Pro late 2013 is starting to struggle bus as a dedicated streaming machine , and my Blackmagic card is thunderbolt 2 and I cannot plug it into my windows gaming laptop Asus GL502vt. I saw it was on sale for and decided to pull the trigger as well hey why not it was 134 dollars It will get me by tell I can find a solution for my steaming pc.Boy was I wrong.... Mind you I have been streaming off and on for years so I am no stranger to setting up OBS/ SLOBS/ Wirecast /Vmix and so forth. However this device hates to work, plugged in the device , installed the razer software , rebooted for good measure, fired up OBS Backscreen. Ok not a big deal, for the next 7 hours I attempted to get this thing to work, lucky I still have my old MacBook so I plugged it into the device as a secondary display since it kept trying to detect my TV as a 4k TV even though it is 1080p unlike other devices you cannot force set resolutions as its auto resolution detection is bad. Could not get a Signal, I tried every usb port on my laptop since the device comes with a usb-c to usb type a adapter I tested all my usb 3.0 ports the device would install , I can get passthrough however it just black screens no matter what.Fast Forward 7 hours later of uninstall re install reboot reading tech support forums , I finally got it to work once, then turned off the machine and back on and it went to a black screen again.... Not fun, so I decided to uninstall the Razer Software mind you the software even though they say keeps the drivers up to date, and provides you the latest firmware, there is none available and only updates the software so unless they package deliver firmware inside the synapse software for it, I do not even see a button for firmware update nor does it even list what firmware is installed on the device. HOWEVER removing the device + uninstalling the razer software and rebooting and letting windows find the device and install it then IGNROING the razer software makes the device actually work, somewhat, it still has issues from time to time getting a signal so I have to uninstall it reboot re install and it will work again. Now here is the thing, audio was easy to get in as you just have to add the proper audio input source like you do with your mic, easy peasy, when it does work THIS Device is pretty good, color reproduction is decent , audio is fine so forth. Getting it to work is a whole other beast in itself.Issues I have with the device, there is no drivers, I know that sounds funny but hear me out, the device uses the same MS usb / cam drivers that every other device has used since 2006 (driver tested it with razer synapse installed and not installed.) , it is identically the same Microsoft driver dated 6/21/2006 , actually on further inspection I attached a photo it uses the same driver that my usb 2.0 webcam that is embedded into my laptop. When I say Identical its down to the same driver revision . Normally this would not be a problem however the device is highly unusable in its current state, and honestly I do not see razer updating it anytime soon.. Which is sad because when it works it works well , if you can ever get it to work at all.I was looking for a "cheapish" external capture card to capture gameplay from both my PS5 and Nintendo Switch, and after perusing a few YouTube reviews, I decided to go with this Razer Ripsaw HD. The card features 1080p/60fps capture with 4K/60fps passthrough (perfect for using with my PS5 and my LG CX OLED TV) to my PC. It admittedly took awhile to get it up and running in the way I intended, hence the not-so-plug-and-play friendly comment. Not sure exactly what happened initially, but upon first setting it up, I could not for the love of me get it to output the 4K/60fps passthrough with my PS5. Tried multiple HDMI 2.1 cables and basic troubleshooting and support tickets through Razer. After the third or fourth time restarting the PS5 and unplugging and replugging the capture card, I got it to work. Phew!Another huge con is the way it seemingly does NOT play nicely with LG TVs. It creates all sorts of weird, funky issues with the TV's HDMI ports, eARC and HDMI CEC functionality, and other strange quirks that hopefully is more of an issue on LG's part. Also, no HDR support is a bummer, but for the price point and how old the card is, it's not that surprising. In hindsight, I should have spent a bit more and gone with an Elgato external or internal card. Still, not so bad for the price.Do you like to get the run-around?How about forwarding already available links and being ignored? How about wasting your money and not being able to get answers?Well... if you answered yes to the above buy this piece of junk.I sent them a very detailed description of my issue and they send me a Youtube link that has nothing to do with my issue. I reply back and inform them that this is not related to my issue and asked if they had time to review the information I provided, they reply back that they need my Amazon invoice even if I had provided them my serial number. This is crap support and I have seen a lot of crap support comments on YouTube, Reddit and other forums because I cannot get a simple answer to how to set up a Dual PC Streaming setup over HDMI using a cloned desktop image and a USB headset.classic razer releasing unfinished products and dropping support after it's released. I have bug on ps4 for some reason where I hear faint ticks in the audio, it's hard to notice when you're playing a game but it's a little annoying when you're in menus. many people have already reported on the issue on razers forums and they don't seem to be doing much about it like their previous ripsaw capture card. audio doesn't tick when using it with my switch for some reason.i've been mostly using it for streaming my console games on discord through obs and the picture quality is top notch and the delay is minimal. playing fast paced games might be a small issue though.the only reason why i went with this one instead of an elgato was that the hdmi and mic input at the front are 2 separate audio tracks. this allows me to properly separate game and mic audio for when i'm streaming on discord. besides the problems i have with this capture card, i'm still fairly happy with it. minus the audio ticks, it works like a champ and is really easy to use.su modo plug and play causa que no puedas usarla o configurarla para tener opciones diferentes de uso ademas de poder tener problemas con monitores con cierto perfil de color (porque no lo detecta automaticamente), audio via HDMI que no te deja configurar y otras limitaciones que es algo latoso arreglar. una vez resuelves eso funciona bien pero no tendrias que tener tantos pasos apra solo conectarla y ya. por cierto el soporte de razer es casi nulo al respectoAs much as I love Razer and there Products. I have to give it to them, they made something so easy to use and simple that anyone and their 2yr old kid can get the hang of it! Honestly 4 Star Rating cause there have been few to little issues where as to when you activate the product and start it up on your OBS or SLOBS Broadcasting Software, there is a Black Screen. I have done a lot of research on Google, YouTube, Twitter, etc. And fixed the problem for sure as soon as I had figured it out. Otherwise no other problems with this product and yet again Razer has out done it again. Keep it up Razer!Great capture card, I use it with the Xbox series x on a 4K UHD Samsung tv, and a ryZen 4600 laptop with Obs software no issues works great very happy upgraded from the live gamer plus
