This game tends to have very mixed reviews and I can see why. This version is essentially a 1:1 copy of the original gameplay with updated graphics and some new content. Note that the original graphics are also selectable if you prefer them (like me :D). That being said, the gameplay is that of the 1986 game, and it certainly shows its age a bit. The movement can feel a bit clunky, the hitboxes are tiny, and you die in one hit. This all makes the game quite challenging and unforgiving at times. They have attempted to remedy some of the shortcomings by adding options for infinite lives, but you might as well not play if you are gonna do that (Git Gud Bro!). That being said this is certainly a nostalgic remake for retro gamers, but players who are accustomed to modern gaming standards are likely to find it outdated and abrasive unless they are looking for a challenge.During the early days of the Sega Master System, most gamers played this game as their introduction to the system before anything else. (It was a pack-in game for the “then new” hardware of the time. The game was far from perfect, and it could get repetitive quickly, but this reboot looks to correct some of those issues while throwing on a fresh coat of paint! Most of the changes made were needed and done very well, I’m happy to report. Also, the graphics look smooth and the music really shines the brightest overall!Honestly, I really appreciated the updated soundtrack! It’s not a master class in modern gaming music, but you can honestly hear that the team put some love into the music by paying a great deal of resources into it!The controls are just as you remember! You’ll feel right at home as soon as you get the controller in your hands. It’s satisfying!Visually, it’s bright and cheerful! Exactly what you would want from an Alex Kidd game. They did well here also. So… who is this game for? In short, if you enjoyed the originals, this will be a delightful experience for you. If you didn’t care for it 25+ years ago, you can still get some mileage out of the game if, and only if you enjoy old school platform games. The price point is excellent, so it was a no-brainer for me! Definitely having fun with this one! This is one beautiful looking game. I’ve enjoyed the original, and this game for better or worse plays it really safe and keeps just about everything the original had while adding some boss fights, new levels, and the graphical overhaul. You can even switch between the modern and classic style graphics. The control is a little slippery, but that is exactly how it controlled in the Master System game.Music is great, and there are some newly added tracks to help add to the experience. This isn’t quite as good as the remaster of Dragon’s Trap (another Master System game), but it was clearly put together with love and respect for the original. If you didn’t like the game before this remaster, it won’t change your mind, so save your money if you’re not a fan.I’m happy to see this SEGA franchise return. With this Dragon’s Trap, and Streets of Rage 4, it’s a good time to be a SEGA fan, and I hope to see more franchises come back in the future! It is fun and has new features that fix old flaws.I was a big fan of the original on the sega master system. I spent many hours of childhood playing this game. The remake has awesome graphics, personality, and a great remix soundtrack. I love the ability to switch between the original and the new one on the fly.The packaging also comes with a classic master system reversible cover, a keg chain and manual. The manual was disappointing, they tried to mimic the original manual but the layout is clutter with multiple languages and small fonts. If you are a fan of the original, pick it up. I hope the developer creates more remakes like Wonder Boy 2 or Alex Kidd in Shinobi World.came as advertised... EXCEPT it seems the wrapping has been damaged and is no longer sealed hence 2 starsI don't remember the original on the master system being anywhere near this hard, or the controls having as much sway in them, or the enemy hit-boxes being so off...Maybe I just suck at video games after entering my 40s... But I suspect kids now would throw their controls if they played this one.Seriously, did I mention how ridiculously hard and unforgiving this game is?That said, I enjoyed the game, but ONLY because of the infinite lives option. Unfortunately using infinite lives takes away some of the challenge. There should have been an option to increase the number of lives rather than infinite. The updated Graphics are nice, but I think if this group makes any updates on the other Akex Kidd games, I'll wait until they are on sale before picking up a copy.A blast from the past! This is a game I honestly felt was way overdue for a remake after seeing a similar remake of DuckTales, which was also very impressive to me. Now that it's out, I'm pleased to say that it looks and plays great! I love the bonus keyring and the fact that cover art can be reversed to show the classic "Alex Kidd in Miracle World" artwork is an excellent touch that I was all to happy to see. The nostalgia hit hard with this one, and I'm glad it did.O jogo está incrível. Me agradó tiene muy buen gameplay lo recomiendoSame game but with Graphic and Sound improvements. If you loved the original game you'll love this one. Plus, there's a retro mode for who might feel nostalgic.
