I didn’t know what to think when I first saw gameplay footage of this game. The graphics were incredibly old school, the plot seemed interesting but not mind blowing, and I felt like turn based rpgs were becoming rather stale at this point in my life.But wow, (this game which may seem tedious at times) is a masterpiece. The gameplay loop of battling through the labyrinth and then returning to base to heal and upgrade your gear is phenomenal. The auto travel is quick but also immersive and unique. The party customization is incredibly varied and truly feels like ‘your’ party rather than one you are just given. The auto-battle system is quick but also varied enough that you actually feel engaged and make choices amidst the fights.There were two times when I got stuck and wasn’t sure what to do, one time was with the dragon tanks and inputting the shut off code, the other time was when I missed a spot to insert a door flower to get to the prison above the main dungeon.If you do find yourself stuck, don’t hesitate to look up help online, it’ll increase your enjoyment.Bonus end game stuff is revealed after beating the main bad, which I see as a definite plus. The ability to make different parties and either replay the game again or even supplement just supplementing you main team makes it so there are many many ways to play and customize your labyrinth crawling experience.So grateful I took a chance on this game. Very weird. Very unique. Very enjoyable.10/10 Would play again.
